Here is my collage series of the major arcana of the tarot which I made in preparation of my tarot & wellness workbook, 22 Paths to Wholeness: Wisdom from the Tarot.

Fool

Forget about the past; pay no attention to the future.  Take a leap of faith in this present moment.

Magician

Your innate gifts and talents make you a magical being.  Show them off!

High Priestess

Be still and listen deeply to divine wisdom.

Empress

Be generous and abundance will follow.

Emperor

Build stable systems and structures to sustain you.

Hierophant

Your inner moral compass will ground and center you.

Lovers

Allow duality to exist within you.  Embrace all parts of yourself as sacred and lovable.

Chariot

Be open to your life’s meandering path.  Slow down and enjoy the ride!

Strength

Be brave.  You are more powerful than you realize.

Hermit

Your inner truth leads the way for others on the path to wholeness.

Wheel of Fortune

Riches come in many guises.

Justice

Balance passion with integrity in all you do.

Hanged Man

Surrender and let go.

Death

Just like a phoenix, you can rise from the ashes.

Temperance/Art

Awaken your creative spirit and focus on the good stuff – this is the Art of Living!

Devil

Pay attention to what hooks you and gracefully cut the cord.

Tower

Tear down the walls of old defenses that no longer serve you.

Star

Everything is going to be alright.  It’s time to shine.

Moon

Listen to the messages of your dream world.

Sun

Radiate your essence.

Judgment

Forgive yourself and you will be free.

World

Wholeness is a coming together of all the elements.

Which card/collage speaks to you today?

Thank you Kim. I loved making them.

Petrea January 10, 2012

Oh so many that catch my eye and my heart, but I would have to say that for today my favorite is Star. These are beautiful Jo, a really nice idea!

Jo Crawford January 10, 2012

Thank you Petrea. Yes the Star one is a keeper – sometimes it reminds me of that Pink Floyd song “Shine on crazy diamond” :)

Laurie January 10, 2012

Jo, these are all just wonderful! I love seeing the various interesting images and the intentions you attached to each one. What a lot of heart and soul work you put into the creation of these cards. Thank you for sharing!

Jo Crawford January 10, 2012

Thank you Laurie. I’ve been wanting to share my personal interpretations on the cards for a while and this felt like the right timing and forum!

Kristen January 10, 2012

These are wonderful Jo!! I love them and am totally inspired by this project! How long did it take you?

Jo Crawford January 10, 2012

Thank you Kristen – so happy to hear you love them. I made the first batch (High Priestess through Hermit) as examples for a tarot collage workshop I ran in ’09 and then picked up the project again last year. I was planning on releasing an ebook about the major arcana with these as the artwork but my interest has since shifted. In any event once I focused, I was able to make the most in a couple of weeks. Like you I collect images and text from magazines all the time which cuts back on creation time. Let me know if you end up making any yourself as I’d love to see your insights.

Gina Rafkind January 10, 2012

Love all these…..World caught my eye……wow, really cool!

Jo January 11, 2012

The World is very appropriate on the eve of your birthday as it signals the end of a cycle :)

Jackie January 11, 2012

Jo these are lovely, Hermit shouted to me but then I am feeling very hermitty just now and struggling a little with engaging with the world when I feel a need for much more time going inwards. What a gorgeous idea. I love seeing your creative projects xx

Jo Crawford January 11, 2012

I love that you chose the Hermit with her walk along a forest path – although not barefoot as your usually are!

Hibiscus Moon January 11, 2012

SUPER powerful with a modern twist. Love these! Excellent work. TY for sharing!!!

Jo Crawford January 11, 2012

Thank you Hibiscus – I love that you call them modern :)

Kaye Bonato January 11, 2012

These are great! Magician really appealed to me, but they all speak out.

Jo Crawford January 11, 2012

Isn’t that elephant the coolest! He jumped out at me when I was making the Magician which makes sense as I associated Ganesha with magician energy.

Sara January 11, 2012

Love seeing these all together! I am drawn to the Magician and the Hanged Man.. (“just let go”..)

Jo Crawford January 11, 2012

Of course, you are one of the lucky ones to have had a peek at these before…I couldn’t let them hid in my drawer in longer!

I love this Hanged Man for you with the cartwheeling across South Western rocks :)

Pam Belding January 11, 2012

Wow! Your cards are absolutely stunning!! I think the World card called to me, followed closely by the Sun card. I’ve had a wonderful day, and the cards definitely reflect that!! I love what you do! xoxo

Jo Crawford January 11, 2012

Thank you Pam – that means so much to me.

I was struck that both cards you chose – Sun and World – have a very strong focal point with the buddha and globe, respectively – you must be feeling mighty centered today :)

Sharon Knight January 13, 2012

Wow, very fresh representations! I really like the elephant as Magician. Also love Judgement and the World. Nice work!

Jo Crawford January 16, 2012

Thank you Sharon! The Magician and World seems to be the winners here amongst my readers.

Alvira January 14, 2012

TOWER

I’m so breaking the habit of being myself

Jo Crawford January 16, 2012

That makes so much sense, Alvira, with your healing journey. Sending love.

Linnette Dooley January 14, 2012

I also loved the elephant as magician. It was beautiful and magical at the same time

Jo Crawford January 16, 2012

Isn’t that just the most magical elephant? Love it.

amyshy March 29, 2012

These are fabulous Jo! I love the Magician elephant and all the colors on the Sun.

I am plotting a tarot inspired project myself. You’ve inspired me to get moving on it! :)

Jo Crawford March 29, 2012

Oooo, I’d love to see your tarot project. Making these collages really deepened my understanding of each card and my personal associations with it. The Magician as Ganesha elephant seems to speak to most – feels good to know I was tapping something deeply connected between us.

Tangerine Meg April 30, 2012

So many of them speak to me :)
I appreciate that you’ve made the meanings of tarot cards more apparent even to someone like me who is unfamiliar with tarot. (You did the same with your little book of chakras). Thanks for sharing your gift.
Love Meg x o

Jo Crawford April 30, 2012

Thank you Meg for the lovely feedback on my cards as well as my Chakra ebook. Blessings to you.
