The heart chakra is the one chakra we all “get” as it is where we locate our feelings and emotions. When our heart chakra is unblocked and open, we can give and receive unconditional love with ease.
This morning as I walked home from a coffee date with a friend who was visiting from out of town, I was thinking about how good it feels to have open-hearted talks. There is nothing quite like feeling resonance as you share your heart truths.
As I passed through a neighborhood park, I stopped to sit on the grass for a while and made this improv earth art piece out of the grass flowers (weeds?) for my heart chakra.
What I love about earth art is that is completely intuitive, and a lesson in being present, in that you arrange and craft beauty with what nature presents to you. It is a fleeting form of art – a breeze or a curious dog’s nose will erase my flower heart by the end of the day.
But for now, the simplicity of my earth heart remains.
I wrote this affirmation in poem form in 1998 while going through a hard break-up and it became a tender prayer to my sacred self.
It still gives me comfort as a reminder that no matter what turmoil I see in the world or feel in my heart, connecting with Divine Source is as simple as going within and remembering.
Follow your heart
Follow your path
Retrace your step
Back to your Source
I believe we all have divinity within us and the ability to connect to Source.
When I am able to quieten the chatter of my mind, block out assumptions and expectations, there is always a soft center of peace within.
It feels like a path of the heart – one that guides me home to my true self.
When I sink into her, anything is possible.
Whether you are in a relationship, searching for the one or happily single, choose yourself this Valentine’s Day!
Over the next few weeks I urge you to spoil yourself as you would a new lover. Only you know what your heart secretly desires and now is the time to honor your tender heart.
Treat yourself to flowers, a spa day or chocolates; take yourself out on your dream date; or write a love letter to your soul. A little bit of self-love and attention goes a long way towards lasting happiness.
Replenish your heart center with loving kindness for your self. Allow this love energy to radiate from within.
Remember, you are loved.
As we bid adieu to another year, I wanted to make sure that we celebrate you.
You did amazing things this year!
Do you remember?
Write a list of at least 10 things you accomplished over the course of this year that made you feel proud of yourself.
They can be as seemingly insignificant as saying thank you every morning to the barista who makes your coffee or as big as taking that trip you spent years planning. Write down whatever made you smile or stand tall in your power.
Look over your list and give yourself a big cheer for all you achieved.
Choose at least one of your highlights of the past year to share with a trusted friend and toast to your success!
Cheers to you!
