I am following Eleanor Mayrhofer’s suggestion (as seen on Scoutie Girl) of making a list of all I did in 2011 – highlighting everything I’ve created instead of focusing on what is lacking in my life.
So here’s what I did in 2011 (in no particular order):
- I made collages of all 22 major arcana cards from the tarot. Someday I will showcase them all as a blog post – in the meanwhile here’s my World card:

-
I designed myself new super-cute chakra themed business cards.
-
I completely overhauled the web design of Crafting the Sacred – all by myself! Check out my post New Energy, New Look on how it felt to let go the professional design I paid for in favor of one I created myself.
- I dipped my toes into the wonders of Photoshop thanks to my dear friend and cappuccino buddy Sam.
- I used my own watercolor artwork as a starting point to design this site’s header!
My husband Azi and I made a (almost) daily habit of taking a long walk around our neighborhood.
- I began to blog more regularly and find my voice as a writer. My very favorite posts from this year are Losing my Religion, Finding my Sacred Truth; How to Love Working for Yourself; Creativity in the Fallow Season; and Radical Authenticity.
- I wrote a fangirl e-mail to one of my blog crushes, Magpie Girl, asking her to guest post and she said yes!
- I wrote and released my first three ebooks of intuitive wisdom – the Pocketful series.
- My business coaching work picked up and I’m so proud of my clients’ achievements – one launched her new business website; and another transitioned from etsy seller to opening her own brick-and-mortar store.
- I picked up art journaling, which has stoked my creative fires to no end (Thank you Effy for inspiring me and making it possible!)
- I’m using my art journal to chronicle my path towards pregnancy and finding it so very healing to express myself beyond words. Turns out my pages are often humorous prayers for conception:

- I helped my friend Kristina revamp her Devi Doula website and am now luring her into the wonders of art journaling!
- I did a fair amount of guest posting, including how I started Crafting the Sacred; how creativity inspires my coaching work; and practicing self-forgiveness.
- I cheekily created my own Certificate of Authenticity to describe myself as if I was a priceless work of art.
- My husband Azi graduated with Cum Laude for his degree in Mathematics. Ok, I admit that should be on his “I Did” list and not mine, but I just had to share his success!

- In April Katrina Dreamer and I ran a workshop on using creativity and divination to understand the messages of your dream world, which we aptly named Divine Dreaming.
- I paid all my bills on time despite Azi being out of work since August.
- I did some tough processing with friends about expectations and support – it led to one friendship breakup and at least two friendship breakthroughs. A humbling and heart-opening process that has made my close friendships so much richer.
- I got fancy with photoshop and created a new freebie: printable Peace~Love~Joy buntings.

- I continued my annual tradition of knitting a winter scarf for my friend Aurora – this makes it 4 years in a row!
- I interviewed 13 everyday people who have found and are making a living from their passions for my Soul Work series.
- I am super-proud of the variety and quality of the guest posts I gathered for October’s Ancestral Threads series to honor those who have gone before.
- My Guide to Making Chakra Art is included in 30 Days of Goddess e-course available through the Goddess Circle. Here’s my creation for my throat chakra in all its peacock glory:

- Azi and I saw my favorite South African band Freshlyground, live in San Francisco – such a treat!
- I’ve been working with a powerful shamanic healer to release energetic blockages.
- I made a few lovely friendships with like-minded souls through on-line communities (Carrie, Fran, Michelle and Sara, I’m looking at you!)
- The TV shows that hooked me this year were Homeland, Game of Thrones and Treme — I’m all for well-written dramas with socio-economic awareness and political intrigue.
- And my “I Did” list keeps growing…but I will stop for now
I hope your 2011 was as full of new beginnings, heart-filled connections and creativity as mine was!
I’m taking a break from blogging over the next few weeks and will return return refreshed in the New Year. Wishing you and yours a rested and joyful festive season.

Wooohoooo! What an awesomely productive year you’ve had Jo – I’m amazed that you managed to fit it all in.
I’m so grateful to have met you and been inspired by you this year – and I really look forward to getting to know you better in 2012.
Blessings, and ENJOY your well-earned downtime over the holidays
Thank you Tanja. To be honest I had no idea how productive I was until I began making the list.
Looking forward to more connecting in 2012!
What an awesome list Jo!!! It is a gift to step back and celebrate ourselves. Your creativity really shines through in your new design of your website, your art journaling, and your new business cards.
You are a gift in my life. I am grateful for our friendship and am excited to see what 2012 holds:)
Congratulations on your successes!
If there is one gift I treasure from 2011 it’s been reclaiming my creativity. Thank you for honoring that and being a good friend. To mucho success for us all in 2012!
So many things accomplished in such a short time – only one year! Doesn’t it just feel good when you look at that list? Congratulations, you should be proud of yourself!
It feels so good, Margot…you should try it yourself
Love it Jo!
Wow you really have a lot to be proud of. I love your cards, they inspired me to make permission slips which I included as part of my free e-course.
You are an inspiration!
I’m moved to hear I inspired you in some way. I absolutely love the creativity prompts and exercises you are doing on your ArtTherapist site. You inspired me as well!
It has been such a pleasure, Jo! xo
The feeling is mutual my dear!
Wow Jo, you have inspired me to create my list…isn’t amazing all that we do and usually don’t ‘see’. What a wonderful way to ‘see’.
much love!
It was truly an eye-opening exercise for me as some of my big “projects” (such as pregnancy) did not happen. It feels so powerful to acknowledge what my creative energy DID manifest!
Dang, woman! You’re a freakin’ powerhouse, did you know? That’s a hell of a TA DA! list. I’m so happy and proud of you for all the incredible work you’ve done this year. May 2012 be even more awesome!
You know I don’t think of myself as a powerhouse and tend to focus on what is not working, so this was an amazing self-esteem exercise for me. Thank you for seeing me
Wow! That is an impressive list! Good for you. It helps to have it all written down in one place so you don’t forget how much you accomplished.
Thanks Loran. Now I can quit complaining that 2011 was a year of limbo, as obviously it was not!
Fabulous list. It inspired me to write my own 2011 I Did It post. Huge mahalo for that, I probably would not have had the thought to even do it before reading your incredible list of I did it’s this year.
And I’ve got a big one to write. This was the year I sold my home in San Diego, gave away most of my things, and moved to Hawaii. It’s been a journey and there are soooo many magical things that came along with it. Certainly star dusted and now I must write about it.
Have a wonderful refreshing break and see you in the New Year…. also very glad to meet you.
Aloha wags!
Congrats on making such a big commitment to your soul this year. I hope your “I Did” list helps you own your success as mine did for me.
There are so many great things here BUT my fav’s are the chakra biz cards….SWEET! and that you got your bloggie crush to guest post for ya! Now off to check out her blog.
Yes, the chakra biz cards are seriously adorable! You’ll love Magpie Girl – she’s got it going on.
Ah dear Jo, what a beautiful collection of creativity for your year. I got the chills when I saw your peacock, hadn’t seen how that ended up. Perfect! And I loved following the link to see the photo of you and Azi where you look about 12 years old and HAPPY! Just lovely xxxx
Oh Jackie, so glad you got to share a bit of the completion of the chakra art. And yes, that pic of Azi and I at his graduation is us at our sweetest
Lovely! Isn’t it funny how we can have blind spots regarding our own accomplishments? I’m glad you’ve stepped back to see all the amazing things you’ve done this year.. Bravo!
Thank you Sara for being so supportive this year, especially when I went digging for all that was lacking instead of owning what was there. Hugs.
Wowza Woman! What a wonderful list of creative achievements, very proud of you.
Meeting you in person deserves to be on the list too! It was one of the conversation that gave me a gentle nudge to explore art journaling, which has been such a creatively healing experience for me. Thank you!
Fabulous! I love it!
Thanks Luna. Your list reminded me of all the personal arts & crafts I did this year that I wanted to show-and-tell
I love your site Jo! It has a really nice feeling. As a graphic design professional I would say that there is no need to feel guilty. Sometimes clients think that they want something until they see it. It is a process that any designer should understand. And, wow what a fabulous year you have had!
Thank you Linette, that means so much hearing this from a professional. I’ve noticed that your site and mine are of the same colour palette – the divine feminine palette methinks!
WOW, Jo! You’ve got an absolutely crazypants amount of things accomplished this year – congratulations! I’m glad that you’re taking the time to appreciate how far you’ve come and the progress you’ve made
I can’t wait to see where you’ll be by the end of 2012!
Crazypants heeheee
Hopefully 2012 is more focused and calmer!
Yay!! Fab list Jo, congrats on a beautiful creative explosion of a year. Love your posts and look forward to all you have to share next year. Have a wonderful Christmas, Jo ♥
Thank you Jo. All the best to you and yours too <3
You’ve done great things this year! Can’t wait to see all the awesome that you do next year!
Thank you for the kudos, dyamond.

JO… I LOVE this way of reflecting on the year! I am so adding this to my reflection repertoire. Many thanks and a million congratulations on an absolutely incredible year. So glad to know you. xoxo
I know, isn’t it a powerful reflection exercise?! Looking forward to more witty bank-and-forths in 2012.

Congrats, Jo!!! You accomplished so much in 2011! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for the new year.
Thanks Sam! You know I couldn’t have done it without all our heart-to-hearts over cappuccino’s at The Junket
Big love to you <3
LOVE LOVE LOVE the sperm “flow” artwork piece!! Very creative indeed.
Love to you too – Jennifer
Hehe, I knew you’d appreciate my conception art
Thank you for all your support along the way.
That is an impressive list of accomplishments, Jo! I think I need to do the same. I love your peacock! The eyes on the peacock’s tail represent the goddess, Jana, the goddess for the month of January, who is able to see back behind her and forward with two faces. The peacock is her totem and the reason why we have put peacock feathers in our home for decoration for centuries. Can’t wait to see what you give birth to in 2012.
Thank you Stephanie. I’ve had a close relationship with peacocks since I was a girl and even have one tattooed on my right arm (his name is Fred). They are clearly one of my totem animals and speak to me of standing tall in my personal power as well as my intuitive abilities (with the all-seeing eyes of its feathers). It is no surprise to me that peacocks are associated with so many deities, in addition to Jana, Melek Taus, Hera, Juno, Saraswati, and even Inanna (or so I’ve seen in my shamanic journeys to her temple). Such a sacred animal – the earth phoenix as some say.
Jo! You never cease to inspire! Thank you big squeeze!
Thank you Sharonda. Loved how inspiring your I Did list is as well. Here’s to a fab 2012!
Hi Jo, I came across this site by accident, although I really do not believe in accidents. I also love peacocks. When I was a child my father was a zookeeper and so I lived in a zoo for my first twelve years. I have always had peacock feathers in my home and even had them in my wedding bouquet. Your blog is refreshing and inspirational and you seem to jump out from the page with that sincere smile. XX Dawn Alice
Lovely to “meet” you Dan Alice. I too have always had peacock feathers in my house AND in my wedding bouquet, although I did not spend my childhood at a zoo
So so very love synchronicity like this!
